Being medically gaslit and told “It’s anxiety/depression/I don’t know what’s wrong/etc” is exhausting and quite frankly, insulting. Those are NOT diagnoses, those are SYMPTOMS. Your body is TALKING to you, you just haven’t learned the language yet. 60% of the world population is chronically stressed. Many chalk it up to work, parenting, adult responsibilities and financial stress. However, as many as 50-90% of people are chronically stressed from a source they never knew about. A dysregulated nervous system, and this plays a CENTRAL role in the development and persistence of chronic stress. This is why you never feel like yourself. A dysregulated nervous system is caused by many things: stress, trauma, poor lifestyle habits, and overstimulation. Unprocessed emotions that we thought we “worked through”, actually didn’t get worked through. We cut them off to protect ourselves and our body stored them. This shows up as:
